To transcribe your audio & video files, users must first Upload and Process the files in the Canopy system. Once processed and ready for assessment, they will appear in the Review module under the Document Page.
Canopy supports transcription for a wide range of audio and video file types, though each document can only be transcribed once.
Follow these steps to transcribe your files:
- Navigate to the Document Page under the Review module.
- Select one or more audio or video files you wish to transcribe. The Transcribe button in the Actions bar will become enabled if at least one selected file is eligible for transcription. If no files are eligible, the button will remain disabled.
Files eligible for transcription include:
- Supported audio and video formats.
- Files that have been successfully processed.
- Files that have not been transcribed previously.
- Click the enabled Transcribe button in the Actions menu.
- A confirmation dialog will appear, showing the total audio duration to be transcribed. Click Transcribe to confirm and start the process.
- Once confirmed, the transcription will begin as a background task. You’ll receive a notification indicating the transcription has started.
- You can monitor the transcription’s progress in the Job Manager under the In Progress tab. Each job will be listed with a Job ID and current Status. Click on the Job ID for more detailed information about the transcription job.
- After the transcription is complete, you will receive a notification.
- Clicking Activity History will take you to the Activity History page, where you can view details of the completed job.
- Clicking Document List will take you directly to the Document Page of the newly transcribed files.
Once a transcription job is complete, you can easily access and review your transcribed audio and video files directly within Canopy’s Document Page in the Review module. We’ve provided a few ways to help you find and work with these files efficiently.
Completed transcription jobs can be accessed through the Job Manager under the Completed tab.
- Navigate to the Job Manager from the navigation bar.
- Click the Completed tab to view all completed transcription jobs.
- For an Audio Transcription job, click the View Details button. This will take you directly to the Document Page, showing all the files associated with that particular transcription job.
To find all the files that have been transcribed in a Project, use the Filter option in the Document Page.
- Navigate to the Document Page under the Review module.
- Click on the Filter button in the top right corner of the page.
- In the Filter panel, select the Transcribed option under the Audio & Video Transcription section.
Once you have located the transcribed audio/video file you wish to review, click on it to open it in the document view.
The transcribed text is displayed in the Text View at the top of the document view.
The Text View provides the complete transcription of the audio/video file. You can easily switch between the audio/video player and the Text View to compare the audio/video content with the transcribed text.
Canopy also automatically detects PII (Personally Identifiable Information) elements within the transcription, further streamlining your review process.
Audio Transcription is a paid feature in Canopy. The cost is determined by the total duration (minutes) of the audio or video files transcribed.
Only Tenant Admins have access to the total monthly transcription minutes for their tenant. This information is displayed in the Tenant Settings under the Billing section within the Audio Transcription report.
